Overview
Color Picker Extension (“the Extension”) helps you pick colors, copy color codes, build palettes, and analyze colors on the page you are viewing. This policy explains what data is handled and what is not.
Data we do not collect
- We do not sell personal data.
- We do not run ads or ad trackers inside the Extension.
- We do not send browsing history, screenshots, or picked colors to our servers.
- We do not require an account to use the Extension.
Data stored on your device
To provide features, the Extension may store the following locally in your browser using Chrome’s storage APIs (synced across your Chrome profile when sync is enabled):
- Recently picked colors and related metadata (for example, site hostname or “Outside browser”).
- Pinned colors and palette preferences.
- Theme preference (light/dark).
- A random local install ID used only for local state (not used for advertising).
You can clear this data by removing the Extension or clearing extension storage in Chrome.
Permissions and on-page access
The Extension uses activeTab and scripting only when you start a feature (for example, “Pick from page” or page color scan). It does not inject scripts into every website in the background.
- Pick from page may capture the visible tab briefly so you can sample a pixel. That image stays in memory on your device for the pick session and is not uploaded.
- Page scan reads styles from the active page in your browser to list colors and contrast samples. Results stay on your device.
- Pick from anywhere uses the browser EyeDropper API in the Extension popup and does not require page access.
Third parties
The Extension does not share Extension usage data with third-party analytics providers. The product website at colorpickly.com may use standard web hosting logs; that is separate from Extension storage.
Children
The Extension is a general productivity tool and is not directed at children under 13.
Changes
We may update this policy when features change. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do.
